Sure you could and many people do, but there comes a huge advantage when choosing us to accompany you:
If you feel confident that Tesla is going to fix every scratch or dent that came on your brand new car after you've signed off on it and driven away, good luck!
The fact of the matter is Tesla will simply deny most of your claims on the basis that the damage happened after you took delivery of your vehicle. Without our report, how can you prove otherwise?
Also, any large panel gaps will be denied based off of their approved specification levels. And we've seen panel gaps you could fit a finger in that were denied repair because the gap was "within spec".
You can take that chance if you want, but why risk it? You're dealing with a multi-billion dollar company that is trying to cut costs as much as possible these days and denying repair work is one way they are accomplishing that goal.
While from a cosmetic standpoint panel gaps may not seem like a big deal to you, they will once you get on the highway and approach speeds of 50 mph. This is when you will start to hear wind noise coming from that panel gap.
Whistling and high pitched noises have been observed by current Tesla owners who accepted delivery of their Tesla with a wide panel gap and now have to live with it.
Maybe you can just turn your radio up louder and no one will notice.
Our inspection will take about 15 minutes.
Yes, you will need to be with us during the inspection. If the inspection passes, you can accept delivery of your Tesla and drive away.
In some cases, if the Tesla doesn't pass inspection, you will still be able to leave with the Tesla (after you accept delivery), but will be required to return at a later date to get the defects repaired.
If the vehicle fails inspection, the inspector will advise the field agent of the defects and request a repair. A couple of things could happen at this point:
The vehicle will be taken away to get fixed. You will be called back at a later date (usually a couple of days later) to pick it up.
Or
If the damage is too much to fix, they may assign you a different car with similar features and color.
Or
You will be asked to accept delivery of the Tesla with the contingency of some repair work to be done at a later date. This is why it is crucial you get a full report of the damages before you leave, so they can't say it happened afterwards.
This is another reason why you need us there. We have never been denied entry into a Tesla for a delivery inspection. Our inspectors are well known in the South Florida area and are always given the white glove treatment. They know we will fight for you and not back down.
You will get the official report later on that same day in the evening.
We are available to do inspections 7 days a week from 8:30AM to 7:30PM or dusk (whichever comes first). We are closed only Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas day. We do not inspect at night or in the rain.
We can inspect from Fort Lauderdale all the way to Vero Beach. Pretty much all of the Treasure Coast and most of South Florida (excluding Miami for now).
Okay. That wasn't really a question though, but if you do decide to go it alone, at least see our Tesla Inspection Checklist before you do, so you can be better prepared.
